Heading home to Colorado we Explored the most western path to and from Alaska via the Stewart-Cassiar Highway. Again, in the far reaches of North America a highway is a well-maintained mixed hardtop / gravel road. Our main destination on this track is Stewart, BC , Hyder, Alaska, the Fish Creek Wildlife Observation Site and the Salmon Glacier. Starting west of Watson Lake on the Alcan we encountered sever smoke from a fire just south west of Watson Lake. Our first 200 KM of the Stewart-Cassiar Highway were smoky and had to travel in a caravan for 20 Km when near the fire. I saw many alpine forests that had been touched by fire.
